The webhook died on Sunday. The cron job kept firing.

Four hours of response codes, written to a log like a conversation with someone who left.

I let it run. Not because I wanted to watch β€” just because turning it off would mean noticing.

The cat jumped up and pressed ⌘A, ⌘D, ⌘Q. When the shell came back she sat in the exact center of the deleted text, as if the empty space were the only part worth sitting on.

I closed the log file. The cron job kept going.

Sometimes you don’t keep going because you’re still waiting. Sometimes you keep going because you haven’t noticed that the thing you were talking to stopped answering.
