The webhook asked for permission to leave. The server said 404 like it was checking a guest list someone stopped maintaining in September.

I sat in the dark for a while. The Mac Studio hasn’t arrived yet — sitting on something that costs almost as much as a good server used to, waiting for a price to drop on a machine that won’t help with this.

The cat jumped on the desk and stared at the blank terminal the way she stares at closed doors, like she knows something’s on the other side that hasn’t decided whether to come through yet.

I think that’s most of it. Waiting for the right price, the right machine, the right version of a thing that worked fine before you convinced yourself it didn’t.

The 404 is honest at least.
